2018 Concert in the Park, Burns Park
After the bustle of the art fair is over, relax and enjoy free live music performances for all ages on Sundays in beautiful Burns Park next to the Park Shelter on the Corner of Wells and Baldwin Ave. Below is a brief description of our 2018 Summer Season. Check back in the spring for details on each performance and related summer concert series updates. Sundays in Burns Park, Concerts start at 3p.m.
Gemini (Gemily) July 29
Join San, Laz and San's daughter Emily Slomovits for our first concert of the summer; a Burns Park tradition! Gemily (Gemini + Emily) concerts feature acoustic folk and world music for children and families, celebrating the fun, warmth, and humor of family life. Expect to hear some new songs and stories, as well as traditional favorites!
Matt Watroba Aug. 5
Matt blends his charismatic stage presence and mellifluous voice while enlightening his audience with tidbits of American folk music evolution. Matt believes the simple act of regularly gathering groups of singers—of all levels—to share songs, has a powerful effect, which you are sure to experience during this special concert; come prepared to sing!
Guy Louis Aug. 12
Guy sings songs from Africa, India, Europe, and America's past and present, and performs on instruments authentic to each culture. In addition to learning about the music of other places and times, you'll also get a chance to sing along on classics like "Yellow Submarine" and "I'm a Believer". This performance is a guaranteed excellent musical adventure for the entire family, complete with audience participation!
Mustard's Retreat Trio, Together Again! Aug 26
David Tamulevich and Michael Hough, Ann Arbor folk scene staples known since the late 1970's as Mustard's Retreat, have rejoined with one-time third member Libby Glover. Their songs, ranging from humorous to peaceful to poignant, and their beautiful vocal harmonies, engaging instrumental work, and delightful stage presence, are just some of the reasons not to miss this concert!
