Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation Services is offering wage increases for all temporary seasonal jobs. Starting salaries will be at $15.66 for TEMP 1/STEP 1 hires.​ Staff enjoy working outdoors, providing great customer service, teaching valuable life lessons such as swimming and enhancing their communication and leadership skills.​

LIFEGUARD, starting pay $16.45:
Our lifeguards at Buhr, Fuller and Veterans Memorial Park​ pools ​maintain swimmer safety, monitor water conditions and guest behavior, enforcing safety rules and paying close attention to swimmer activities and behavior. Lifeguards also work to give each guest an exceptional experience through excellent customer service, caring for the facility and being part of our hard-working team. Lifeguards are supervised by the recreation supervisor and will participating in ongoing training and practice throughout the pool season.

SWIM COACHES, starting pay $17.71
Coach youth of varying abilities to be a part of a local swim team at Buhr and Veterans Memorial Park​ pools. There are also Master Swim Coach opportunities at Mack Indoor Pool​. Responsibilities include designing workouts, providing skill instruction, coordinating and ordering swimsuits and supplies, supervising assistant coaches, supervising participation in local meets, and sponsoring home meets.  Employees will have an opportunity for lifeguard certification reimbursement up to $200 upon working a minimum of 200 hours. 

CASHIERS, starting pay $15.66
Collects money for general admissions to the pools, canoe liveries and golf courses. Responsible for the handling of all monies received and the operation of a cash register. May also be responsible for answering the facility telephone and disseminating public information. Directly responsible for the cleanliness of the lobby area and on a regular, or occasional basis as a locker room or control person in addition to the duties as cashier.​

GOLF COURSE TURF SPECIALIST, starting pay $18.15
Responsible for the maintaining golf course for use, including mowing, changing cups, watering and applying fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides Identification and diagnosis of turf disease and pests. Job duties also include preventative maintenance and overhauling equipment machinery, regulation of the irrigation system and operation of all types of heavy and light golf course and turf equipment between both Huron Hills​ and Leslie Park golf courses.

GIVE 365 FIELD COORDINATOR, starting pay $18.15
Under the supervision of the Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator this role with GIVE 365​ involves the development of park improvement and enhancement priorities and work plans for park volunteer work days. You will work independently to coordinate and lead volunteer workdays and stewardship workdays that include but are not limited to landscape maintenance, park beautification, painting, invasive species removal, tree planting, mulching, spreading of woodchips. Conduct any other activities suitable for volunteers to improve park environments. Coordinate prep work and post event follow up on volunteer workdays such as daily transporting, loading and unloading of brush, woodchips and equipment. ​​

​GIVE 365 OUTREACH ASSISTANT, starting pay $17.28
Assist the parks and recreation volunteer and outreach coordinator with all aspects of publicizing, promoting and organization of the GIVE 365​ volunteer program of the parks and recreation services unit. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating and conducting park workdays, managing emails, communicating with volunteers and coordinating resources and events to support park maintenance and beautification. Collaboratively creating and implementing volunteer experiences at the city's recreation facilities, and work with the city communications office to promote the volunteer achievements of the program through quarterly publications, presentations, and press releases. Assisting in the promotion the volunteer program, i​ncluding actively recruiting volunteers to perform a wide variety of activities, tracking volunteer hours and activities on computer database, organizing volunteer special events and training. Assist with other aspects of parks and recreation within the service unit, workdays, events, etc. This position entails both office work but also will require being out in the field to lead volunteer work days including the loading and transporting of materials and work day supplies.

DAY CAMP COUNSELORS, starting pay $16.86
A fun and rewarding job working with local students for the summer months (June-early September).  We are looking for experienced day camp​ counselors, to help lead our amazing summer day camp. Day camp counselor II’s will lead a group of 10 campers throughout the day both in and out of the water. You will be assisting campers through different activity stations while helping campers traverse social experience with other campers. Counselors lead with excitement and joy and help campers have a phenomenal summer experience. Exceptional counselors will be able to work independently, communicate with parents and guardians, and properly manager camper interactions.  Counselors will work a set schedule either for the early shift of camp or the afternoon shift of camp. Counselors will work between 20-30 hours a week.​

CANOE LIVERY ATTENDANT, starting pay $16.05
Fun outdoor and physical job working in our river parks at Argo​ and Gallup Canoe Liveries. Flexible hours, does require working weekends and holidays, working between 20-40 hours per week (season is April-October). Work with a team of livery staff at our popular boat rentals providing customers with a river experience. Enjoy time on the river for boat rentals are free for employees. Work is outdoors with a team at both the Argo and Gallup Livery locations. Works under assistant facility supervisors and the recreation supervisor. Duties will include the handling and care of the canoes, kayaks and other boats, assisting patrons with boat rentals and performing various assigned maintenance and repair tasks. 

RIVER CAMP INSTRUCTOR, starting pay $​19.34
River fun leading recreation programs for adults and children to learn paddlesport skills and discover the river. We provide training on kayak and SUP skills and group management. Programs we offer are River Kids​ for preschoolers with an adult, Kayak Instruction, SUP Instruction, Kayaking for Seniors and Adapted Kayaking. River programs are held on weekdays and program instructors work flexible hours, working ​​​​​between three and nine hours per week. Enjoy time on ​the river for boat rentals are free for employees. River recreation programs are held in the mornings and evenings on weekdays from May to September. Schedule is flexible with an estimate of four to eight hours per week.​

GOLF COURSE RANGER, starting pay $16.05
Oversees golf course play. Enforces golf course rules and regulations through constant surveillance and monitoring of golf play throughout the course at Huron Hills and Leslie Park Golf Courses.

GOLF CART OPERATOR, starting pay $15.66
Golf cart operators​ are responsible for the daily set up of golf cart operations. Duties include ongoing maintenance of carts to include; charging, tire pressure, and washing as part of daily tasks. Routine cleaning and maintenance of pro shops as assigned by the pro shop supervisor and/or cashier.  In the absence of the pro shop supervisor, or assistant supervisor, will take direction from the pro shop cashier.
