In our continuing efforts to improve City of Ann Arbor budget communications and education, this web resource was created to increase transparency with financial information and the budgeting process. We would like to help citizens better understand the complex efforts underway to maintain a balanced budget while also balancing service needs and expectations.

Each year, as part of the budget process, City Council compiles a list of priorities that address topics such as safety services, parks and recreation, water utilities, street construction and maintenance, and solid waste. Resources are then allocated accordingly based on multi-year revenue projections. By City Charter, the City Administrator presents his recommended budget to Council in April. The  budget must be approved by City Council by the last meeting in May. The city's budget fiscal year is July 1 through June 30.

Because we want this budget web resource to be dynamic and useful, feedback is welcomed. Please e-mail the City of Ann Arbor Finance Department with suggested content additions.
