Special Events in the Parks
Are you interested in having a special event in a City of Ann Arbor park? Our Parks have hosted many types of special events including concerts, weddings, charity runs, fundraisers, and corporate events. Special events have specific requirements and applications before permits and approvals may be issued.
What makes something a Special Event? Your event may be a Special Event due to:
Large attendance
Ticket sales
Sale of alcohol or serving alcohol when charging tickets to attend
Large tents
Food trucks
Amplified sound
Sidewalk and/or street closures
Having a run/walk component (5K, marathon, etc.)
Competetive athletics (e.g. a baseball/lacrosse/soccer tournament)
Being at a downtown park (Liberty Plaza, Ann Arbor Farmers Market)
Special Events often require at least 60 days for review and may only be requested for the current calendar year.
Please contact the Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation Customer Service office to gather more information about hosting your special event in a city park. If emailing, include the park name, park shelter, requested date, time and details about what you plan to do at the park. Make sure to include your name, email and phone number so we may follow up with you.
