Ann Arbor Selects Submission for Bloomberg Public Art Challenge

Archived News Release: April 3, 2018 - The City of Ann Arbor is pleased to announce the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge submission for Ann Arbor, “Float" by Shary Brown of Wonderfool Productions. “Float" is designed to be a signature inclusive event, built by and for the community, on and along the Huron River, as it runs through Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. It will be designed to raise appreciation and awareness about the River's history and ecology, to encourage sustainable practices, and to generate recreational, cultural and economic impact in both cites through a positive, shared event.

The City received eleven different proposals for consideration covering a wide range of artistic visions. The City and selection committee would like to thank Ann Arbor residents sharing their ideas.

During the next phase of the contest, the selected proposal will be finalized then presented to City Council on April 16. The proposal must be submitted to Bloomberg Philanthropies by April 19.
