Learn About, Give Input on City's Unified Development Code

Archived News Release: November 30, 2017 - ​The public is invited to learn more about the proposed City of Ann Arbor Unified Development Code. This product is the result of a multi-year zoning ordinance reorganization project (ZORO) to restructure 11 different chapters of City Code into a comprehensive, clear, and usable document that efficiently articulates the city's current land use and development requirements. The city is providing numerous opportunities and forums to learn more about the proposed reorganization and to provide feedback. Public Meeting: Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017

This meeting will be held 7-9 p.m. in the City Council chambers, located on the second floor of Larcom City Hall, 301 E. Huron St. This meeting will feature a presentation by the City Attorney's Office and Planning Services Division on the goals of this work, the approach, the structure, and an overview of the Unified Development Code and how to use it. After the presentation, there will be time for questions and feedback.

Office Hours: Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017–Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018

This will be a series of drop-in office hours, all located at Larcom City Hall, where anyone can drop in for a one-on-one or small group conversation, to learn more about the Unified Development Code, pose questions and provide feedback. Representatives from the City Attorney's Office and Planning Services Division will be available. No appointment necessary.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 13, 9–11:30 a.m. – First floor, south conference room.

  • Monday, Dec. 18, 2–5 p.m. – First floor, south conference room.

  • Wednesday, Jan. 10, 5–8 p.m. – Second floor, City Council workroom.

  • Thursday, Jan. 11, 3–6 p.m. – Basement, conference room.

Planning Commission Public Hearings: Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 and Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018

In order to provide more opportunity for public input, the Planning Commission anticipates holding public hearings on both Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, and Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at their regularly scheduled meetings. Planning Commission meetings start at 7 p.m. and occur in the City Council chambers, located on the second floor of Larcom City Hall.

After recommendation by the Planning Commission, City Council will hold a public hearing in association with the adoption of the proposed code, for additional public input opportunity.
