Overview

North Main Park is a half acre park, just north of downtown Ann Arbor, which connects N. Main Street to N. 4th Avenue with an accessible asphalt walk. View the Ann Arbor Parks and Nature Areas map for location context. The park features tall trees providing a shady green canopy along with a small play area and benches. There is also a small garden on the park's east side near the playground. The park is a short walk from Depot Park (the city's smallest park), Wheeler Park, the Museum on Main Street and the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market.

This park receives winter maintenance.

History

Ann Arbor's city parks sit on the ancestral and traditional homelands of several indigenous Native peoples. Read a land acknowledgement from the city and learn more about the early history of the land here.

The land for North Main Park was bought by the city in 1976 for $9,360. The park began to be developed in 1977 with the construction of asphalt paths.

Active Adopters

A group of park neighbors care for the beautiful garden at North Main Park and Wheeler Park! Be sure to check out the garden in the growing season where you will find yarrow, false sunflower, and more. Reach out if you are interested in being a part of caring for the garden.

We would also love to partner with a group or individual to help maintain playground surfacing and remove litter. If you are interested in getting involved, email [email protected] or call 734.794.6445.
