Jerry Hancock named February Water Champion

Archived News Release: January 27, 2023 - Congratulations to Jerry Hancock, the city's stormwater and floodplain coordinator, who has been selected as the February Water Champion. On Jan. 25, Jerry was awarded the 2023 Eunice L. Burns Environmental Awareness Award by the Ann Arbor Board of Realtors. Jerry was recognized for being instrumental in completion of the $9.4 million Allen Creek Berm Project, capping the largest stormwater management and flood mitigation project in city history. The Ann Arbor Board of Realtors presents this annual award to Washtenaw County individuals, organizations and businesses who have met one or more of the following criteria:

  • Use of new products that contain recycled materials or energy saving qualities.
  • Taking the environment into consideration when designing subdivisions.
  • Taking steps to clean up environmental problems.
  • Restoration and remodeling efforts that promote historical preservation and reuse materials.
  • Developing innovative recycling/reuse programs.
