City Council meets in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month. Council work sessions also take place monthly, generally on the second Monday. On occasion throughout the year, a Council meeting may instead be scheduled on a Tuesday or Thursday due to a federal-holiday Monday or Election Day Tuesdays. Please consult the

All meetings are open to the public and are televised on CTN and available live online.
For City Council meetings, a total of 45 minutes will be reserved at the beginning of the meeting for Public Comment for speakers who have signed up in advance. Speakers can participate either in person or via phone call-in on Zoom. Speaking slots will be made available using the existing City Council Rules for sign-up (priority for those who have not spoken at the last two meetings and for those calling on Agenda items). You may sign up by phone or by going to the Clerk's Office in person. Please go to or call the City Clerk's Office at 734-794-6140 on the day of the meeting beginning at 8:00 a.m. Each priority group is randomly ordered using a randomization tool so it is not necessary to call first thing in the morning. After 4:00 p.m., speaking times are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
If commenting remotely, it is very important that callers provide Clerk's Office staff with the number they will be using to call into the meeting at 7:00 p.m. to ensure they are recognized and called on to speak.
Speakers who are unable to speak at the beginning of the meeting due to the overall time limit of 45 minutes will be allowed to address Council at the end of the meeting during Public Commentary - Continued Time. No new speakers will be added to the list after 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Priority for Public Commentary is set by City Council Rules (PDF), currently giving priority to those who have not previously spoken at the last two meetings and those who wish to address Council on agenda items.
Please note:
Speakers may not use public commentary to address Council on an agenda item for which a public hearing is scheduled for the same meeting.

Speakers are given only three minutes each. Speakers are not permitted to sign up for other individuals or grant their time to an alternate speaker.
