Film and Video Location Application

In order to assist you with filming, city staff requires an application. Please complete and submit the Film and Video Location application below to begin the process (this is not a permit): 

City of Ann Arbor Film Requirements

In order to assist you, city staff need a film location schedule, filming dates and city services support needs identified, such as street or sidewalk permits or Police security or traffic control assistance. 

In addition, a location agreement is required for any filming that will take place on City-owned property. This agreement will be provided by the City Attorney's Office.  

Regardless of where filming takes place in Ann Arbor, all film companies are required to contact the following City personnel prior to the start of their production:

  1. Chris Rachwal, City of Ann Arbor Project Management, to review sidewalk, rights of way and street permit guidelines and processing deadlines, at (734) 794-6410 ext. 43648 or e-mail: crachwal@a2gov.org.  
  2. Sergeant Bill Clock, City of Ann Arbor Police Services, to review traffic control and police assistance requirements. If Police assistance is needed, 7-days advance notice is required for scheduling. He can be reached at (734) 794-6940, ext. 49403, e-mail: wclock@a2gov.org.
