Main Street Closures & Stadium-area Parking Restrictions Resume for U-M 2014 Home Football Game Days

Archived News Release: August 21, 2014 - Main Street closures will again be in place during the 2014 University of Michigan football season (click the map to open a PDF version). These closures will occur for all U-M home football games, beginning with the home opener Saturday, Aug. 30, as well as for the Oct. 18 Slippery Rock vs. Mercyhurst game at the stadium.

The scheduled closures are the same as those during the recent International Champions Cup soccer event and the 2013 football season:

  • South Main Street between Pauline and Stadium.

  • East Keech Street between South Main and Greene streets, limiting access to parking permit holders on Greene Street from East Hoover to Keech streets.

  • The westbound right-turn lane on East Stadium Boulevard (onto South Main Street) just south of the Michigan stadium.

The duration of these closures will be three hours prior to each game (i.e., beginning at 9 a.m. for the Aug. 30 noon game) until the end of each game. The exception is southbound South Main Street, which will be closed one hour prior to the games (i.e., beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 30) until the end of each game.

Fans travelling to and from the games should also be aware of other road and lane closures around the city due to construction projects. A listing of road and lane closures is posted at www.a2gov.org/roads, where the option to subscribe for alerts when new information is available can also be found.

Parking restrictions

Additionally, it is important to note that on-street parking restrictions will be in effect 8 a.m.–midnight on all U-M home football game days, including the Oct. 18 Slippery Rock vs. Mercyhurst game (click the map to open a PDF version).
