Veterans Memorial Park Pool Opens June 30 + Weekend Festivities Planned

Archived News Release: June 30, 2016 - Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce Veterans Memorial Park Pool will open June 30 for the 2016 season. The pool's opening had been delayed due to a maintenance project involving the filtration system. Veterans Memorial Park, www.a2gov.org/vets, is located at 2150 Jackson Ave. in Ann Arbor.

"We want to thank our customers for their patience during the closure by hosting several special events over the holiday weekend," said Josh Landefeld, Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation deputy manager. "We look forward to seeing individuals and families from the community come out this holiday weekend and enjoy the pool."

The schedule for Thursday, June 30, and Friday, July 1 will be:
Adult lap swimming, noon-1 p.m.; tot splash (for children 7 years of age and younger when accompanied by an adult) noon-1 p.m.; and public swimming, 1-8 p.m.

Saturday, July 2: Parks staff will host a grand opening event that will include free admission all day to all customers. Give365 Program volunteers will be there with games and fun activities featuring a luau theme.

Sunday, July 3: Free admission will be offered to youth ages 17 and under.

Monday, July 4: The first 150 customers will enjoy free hot dogs, popsicles and bottled wat​er.

A 50 percent discount will be offered to customers who purchase swim season passes for Veterans Memorial Park as a way of saying thank you for being a loyal patron.

The Veterans Memorial Park Swim Team, which has been practicing at Mack Indoor Pool, will have one more practice at Mack before they move back to Veterans Memorial. The first session of group swim lessons originally scheduled for Veterans Memorial will continue to be hosted at Fuller Park Pool for those who signed up. Session two will return to Veterans Memorial when that begins on July 11.
