Help Ensure Ann Arbor's Black History Is Never Forgotten
The Red Line Legacy Project at Porter's Place preserves and uplifts the stories of Black families whose lives, neighborhoods, and opportunities were shaped by redlining, housing discrimination, and displacement in Ann Arbor.
For generations, Black families helped build our community, strengthen its neighborhoods, and contribute to its cultural and civic life. Yet many of their stories have gone undocumented, overlooked, or erased from the historical record. The Red Line Legacy Project seeks to change that by creating a permanent space where these histories can be remembered, honored, and shared with future generations.
