​​​​​Solicitation and Peddlers License (For-Profit Organizations)


Persons wishing to solicit and/or peddle in Ann Arbor must first obtain a license from the City of Ann Arbor.

Applications are accepted via our online portal, STREAM

Applicants are asked to carefully review all information in preparation for applying:

Please be aware that you are required to affirm that you have read and are familiar with the rules and regulations contained within Chapter 79.

  1. The permit application must be include all required documentation, including vehicle information if applicable.
  2. ​Applicants shall submit a current passport size (2"x2") photograph at the time the application is submitted. Applications will require a minimum of 24 hours for processing. 
  3. ​Licenses are only valid for a six (6) month period: May 1 – October 31 or November 1 – April 30 of any calendar year.  The license fee is not prorated.
  4. ​Pursuant to Chapter 79, Section 7:68, applicants for peddler and solicitor licenses must submit evidence of adequate liability insurance coverage consisting of a certificate issued by an authorized agent of the insurance company with the required amendments and/or changes per the Insurance Requirement Form.
  5. ​Fees for peddlers and solicitors are $45.00 per licensure period (6 months). License fees are not prorated.
  6. ​Before any license can be issued under this chapter involving the sale of food or product for human consumption, a certificate must be received from the County Health Officer.
  7. ​The license must be prominently displayed so that it is visible to the public while conducting activities permitted by this chapter. The permit holder must provide refuse receptacles that cannot be deposited in City trash containers.
  8. The permit holder must conduct business so as to allow free and unobstructed pedestrian traffic along the sidewalk.​

Charitable​ Solicitation and Peddlers License (Non-Profit Organizations)​

Non-profit organizations wishing to solicit and/or peddle in Ann Arbor must first obtain a license from the City of Ann Arbor.

If the location is in front of another business not associated with your organization, you must notify the business and provide proof of notification.

**Permission will not be granted unless proof of non-profit status accompanies Application for Solicitation Permit. The organization's Nonprofit Employer ID Number (EIN) is sufficient proof.​
