The Transportation Department staff is committed to creating a transportation network where every day human mistakes do not result in death or serious injury. Vision Zero is our goal and using the Safe System Approach is how we get there. We plan, design, operate, and maintain a safe, accessible, and multimodal transportation system that connects people to homes, jobs, businesses, and community destinations while strengthening economic vitality and quality of life.
Transportation staff are responsible for:
- transportation planning and engineering
- development review
- project implementation
- traffic operations
- management and maintenance of pavement markings
- traffic signals
- signage
- streetlighting
We use data and community input to identify needs, improve safety and accessibility, enhance reliability, and support sustainable transportation choices.
We also work closely with other city departments, regional and state agencies, community partners, and residents to plan and deliver major transportation improvements. Through these partnerships, we invest in a transportation system that serves the community today and is prepared to meet the mobility needs of tomorrow.
