A2ZERO Week Celebrates 5th Anniversary of City of Ann Arbor Climate Action Plan June 1–7

All invited for a week-long celebration of climate action and community with family-friendly events, prizes, resources, food & more
The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations is celebrating the community’s ongoing commitment to climate action during the fifth annual A2ZERO Week June 1–7. Events throughout the week offer opportunities for everyone in Ann Arbor to connect and have fun while supporting the environment and a sustainable future.
The A2ZERO Plan, adopted in June 2020, is the framework for achieving a just, community-wide transition to carbon neutrality by 2030. “A2ZERO Week is a celebration of the A2ZERO Plan brought to life,” said Dr. Missy Stults, director of the office of sustainability and innovations. “It’s a time to look back on everything we have achieved, everything we’re working on now, and imagining the future, together. A2ZERO week presents a truly unique opportunity to learn, connect with neighbors, be inspired and give inspiration to fellow Ann Arborites as we all work together to ensure the sustainability of this great city we share. We look forward to seeing you at one of our dozens of events!”
A2ZERO Week will include a wide range of activities with broad appeal. From learning about the repair of household items, dyeing clothes with organic indigo dye, lifecycle of city trees, and how to electrify your home — to attending a community cleanup, visiting Taste of Ann Arbor or an AFC Ann Arbor game, completing the Passport to Fun, playing climate trivia or joining a family bike ride, numerous activities are designed to inspire and uplift. Organizers note one of the major highlights of the week will be the A2ZERO Ward Parties where residents can meet their neighbors, engage with OSI staff, try local food, have a solar-powered dance party, engage in sustainability-focused games and generally have a fun evening with family and friends in a local park.
A2ZERO Week is possible with the support of many volunteers, A2ZERO ambassadors and local organizations that work directly with the city office of sustainability and innovations including: All Hands Active, VegMichigan, ZeroWaste.Org, SCRAP Creative Reuse, Blom Meadworks, Venue, YMCA, getDowntown, Human Electric Hybrids, Ann Arbor District Library, Give365, Huron River Watershed Council, Green Energy Neighbors and all the local retailers supporting the Passport to Fun!
