Ayesha Ghazi Edwin (D)
Council Member
Ayesha serves as the representative for Ann Arbor’s 3rd Ward. She grew up in Ann Arbor, attending A2 STEAM at Northside, Logan Elementary, Clague Middle School, and Huron High School. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, she returned to Ann Arbor, where she now lives on the southeast side of Ward 3 with her partner and their two children. Her work centers on housing justice - including affordability and homelessness - alongside labor rights, accessibility for older adults and people with disabilities, and equity and civil rights. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Michigan and serves as Chair of the State of Michigan’s Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission. Prior to her work in public office and academia, Ayesha was a longtime community organizer and nonprofit leader, including serving as Deputy Director of Detroit Disability Power. This is Ayesha’s first term as an Ann Arbor City Council Member.
