Mission Statement

The mission of the Ann Arbor Retirement System is to protect and provide retirement benefits to members, retirees, and beneficiaries of the Retirement System.

The Retirement System will serve its members by the prudent administration of the plan and its benefits.

The Retirement System will provide accurate and timely information to its members in a courteous and professional manner.

Pension Board Election - Fire Members

The term of Jeremy Flack, Fire Representative to the Employees’ Retirement System Board of Trustees, will expire on December 31, 2026. The seat is available to all non-civilian members of the Fire Department (firefighters). Please see the memo regarding the election details (PDF) for this seat.

The Retirement System will be hosting two separate educational sessions via Zoom at the end of October! The first session will be focused on Traditional Plan Members, the second on Dual Plan Members. Topics for both sessions will include the Defined Benefit Pension Plan, Retirement Eligibility and Options as well as other provisions related to your retirement benefits. The Dual Plan session will also include information about the 401a Plan. Sessions will be held from 12 – 1 p.m. on the following dates.
