Members of the Commission
The Historic District Commission is a body appointed by the Mayor and City Council, per the mandates of Public Act 169, Michigan's Enabling Legislation regarding local historic districts. The Historic District Commission is made up of 7 members, each one knowledgeable about preservation practices, whether they are professionally engaged as preservationists or not. Each Commissioner is appointed to three-year terms. Anyone interested in serving on the Historic District Commission should fill out an application online. 2025 Historic District Commission Meeting Schedule
The Historic District Commission typically meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00pm in City Council Chambers, City Hall, Second Floor. Please check Legistar for up-to-date meeting locations. The Historic District Commission continues to hold in-person hybrid meetings. Applicants, owners, and public commenters may attend virtually via Zoom or attend in City Hall. Regular meetings are broadcast for viewing online and cable television.
