City shares alert signup and safety information for Ann Arbor Art Fair
Ann Arbor Art Fair takes place Thursday, July 16, through Saturday, July 18. The City of Ann Arbor is providing information for residents.
Getting around town
While most city infrastructure projects will be paused during the Ann Arbor Art Fair, some road and lane closures will remain.
The street closures for art fair will run from 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, through the end of Saturday July 18. Plan extra travel time on roadways throughout the event.
The official art fair map provides information on parking, bike parking and shuttle stops.
Coping with hot temperatures
With high temperatures in the forecast this week, take precautions to keep cool, hydrated and comfortable. Dress in loose-fitting clothing and wear sunscreen. Fairgoers are encouraged to leave pets at home, as hot pavement and the heat are dangerous to animals, too.
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated with free refills at City of Ann Arbor water refill stations:
- State and South University
- Maynard and Liberty
- North University near the Diag
- North University, east of Thayer
- Main and Liberty
- Liberty and Division
Misting and first aid stations will be located at Liberty Plaza (Liberty and Division) and Ingalls Mall (near North University Avenue and Fletcher Street).
See the art fair map for where to find amenities, including restrooms.
Sign up for art fair emergency alerts
Everyone planning to attend the Ann Arbor Art Fair is encouraged to sign up for Ann Arbor Art Fair emergency alerts. It's easy to do from your mobile phone:
- To sign up for art fair emergency alerts, text A2ARTFAIR to 888777.
Notifications will share crucial safety information only in the event of emergencies, and only during the fair dates.
While outside, listen for alerts from the outdoor warning siren system. Be mindful of nearby indoor-shelter locations, should the need arise, which include parking structures. See the art fair map for details.
Safety and security
The Ann Arbor Police Department will again have patrols on foot and bike and mobile police stations. Barriers will be in place at fair perimeters.
In case of emergency, call 911. When making a report, provide the cross streets and, if applicable, the nearest vendor booth number.
