Ann Arbor Celebrates Climate Impact with Resident-Centered Video on Earth Day

The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations launched the “I Am A2ZERO” storytelling campaign on Earth Day, 2026, with a video showing some of the wide variety of things the Ann Arbor community is doing to become more sustainable. Celebrating residents taking actions both big and small, this campaign highlights the impact of climate action in the Ann Arbor community straight from the members of the community themselves and is now live at osi.a2gov.org/iama2zero

Since its adoption in 2020 the A2ZERO Carbon Neutrality Plan has precipitated vast, meaningful action throughout the community and helped enhance action already in motion. Residents featured in the I Am A2ZERO video epitomize this work, telling stories spanning from serving as environmental educators to bike commuters, to those using reusable materials. Together, these stories demonstrate that regardless how big or small an action is, it can and is having an impact.

“It’s good for the environment, it’s good for me, it’s good for climate action,” describes Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor in the video as he stands next to his e-bike – a method of transportation he’s well-known for

To help grow the campaign, community members are encouraged to share a short video chronicling actions they are taking to become more sustainable by following the guidance on the I Am A2ZERO website. Videos are being accepted on a rolling basis and will be shared on the project’s website and on the City’s social media channels.

Those interested in learning more about A2ZERO and its wide-reaching impact can learn more at a2zero.org.

A2ZERO is the Ann Arbor community’s movement to community-wide carbon neutrality that transforms quality of life, health of our climate, and vibrancy of our local community – so that all residents have the resources and opportunities to thrive.
