How can I obtain a copy of a fire report?
Incident reports can be obtained via a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request with the Ann Arbor City Clerk’s Office.
Requests for Tours and Community Outreach
Community events, public education, and fire station tours help inform the community about the fire department, educate about fire safety topics, and establish strong community relations. Please utilize the online form to request a truck visit, fire safety education, and station tours. A two-week notice is appreciated when possible.
Ride-Alongs
In order to enhance knowledge and understanding of the fire service in general, the Ride-Along program facilities opportunities for citizens to ride as observers in fire apparatus. Please review Standard Operating Procedure 1.08 Ride-Along that outlines program details. Interested applicants shall submit a completed Ride-Along Request & Waiver of Liability Form along with a copy of driver's license to the Safety Services Administrative Manager.
Does AAFD provide or recharge fire extinguishers?
- AAFD does not provide fire extinguishers nor are there any local programs for FREE extinguishers. Standard ABC dry-chemical fire extinguishers can be purchased at Target, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

Will the AAFD help us fill a pool?
No, AAFD does not fill swimming pools, as such requires a meter. An online search can point you toward commercial companies who do fill pools.
Does AAFD take back unused medication?
AAFD does not take back unused mediation, but there are several locations available throughout Washtenaw County. See the county website for more information, including a map of locations (this information is managed by the county and is subject to change). Will you install a car seat?
While the AAFD occasionally hosts car-seat fitting appointments at Station 6, the department partners with Mott Children’s Hospital for car-seat installation. Advance appointments must be made with Mott by calling 734.763.2251.
What do I do if I see a fire hydrant problem/issue?
Please report fire hydrant problems and issues to the city via A2 Fix It online or via the mobile app.
