Archived News Release: April 21, 2021 - City of Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation (NAP) will celebrate Earth Day all weekend, Saturday–Sunday, April 24–25, by hosting stewardship workdays at three Ann Arbor natural areas: Bluffs, Sunset Brooks and Marshall.
First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is a day of civic participation focused on protecting the planet. The Earth Day Network estimates over 1 billion people in 192 countries will take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.
Maintaining pockets of natural areas in cities like Ann Arbor is crucial for strengthening the planet's network of ecosystems. NAP invites volunteers to celebrate 51 years of Earth Day by helping clear non-native plants and improving habitat for native flora and fauna. Join NAP at a stewardship workdays this weekend:

For all NAP stewardship workdays, preregistration through Rec1 is required as space is limited. Registration closes on Friday, April 23, at noon. Participants must wear a mask and maintain a 6-feet of distance from others outside of their households at all times. NAP also requests volunteers to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and gardening gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools and know-how provided. City of Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation (NAP) works to protect and restore Ann Arbor's natural areas and to foster an environmental ethic among its citizens.
