Ann Arbor Begins Tree Inventory

Archived News Release: August 12, 2020 - Beginning this week, the City of Ann Arbor will begin updating the city's street and park tree inventory database. This inventory will be the first conducted by the city since 2009 and will be performed by Davey Resource Group (DRG). DRG staff will be working in and around city rights-of-way and park lands to complete the work, which will take 12–14 weeks to complete. All DRG field staff will be clearly identifiable with Davey shirts, badges and ballcap hats. They will be following COVID-19 safety protocols.

The inventory is being done to update the city's knowledge on the size and health of Ann Arbor's trees. The inventory will help staff plan future tree plantings, tree maintenance as well as the strategic goals and objectives for improving and growing the urban forest. More information about the city's urban forest can be found at www.a2gov.org/forestry.
