The Ann Arbor parks have several activities planned on Presidents Day:

Join Natural Area Preservation (NAP) for a stewardship workday 1–3 p.m. A wet meadow lies on the border of Leslie Park and Black Pond Woods, but it is threatened by invasive shrubs. Clearing shrubs from this wetland will benefit both frogs and butterflies. Meet at the parking lot at the end of Leslie Park Circle, off Dhu Varren Road. Please dress in layers and wear shoes suitable for snow or wet ground. All participants must complete a release form, and all minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools, snacks and know-how provided.

Swim indoors! Nothing puts you in the frame of mind for summer than swimming. Mack Indoor Pool is offering general swimming noon–9:30 p.m. Mack is located at 715 Brooks St. inside Ann Arbor Open School. Ask staff while you're there about private swim lessons or the mermaid and merman classes.

Grab your skates! Public ice skating will be available at Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena (2751 Packard Road) noon–2 p.m. Bring your skates or rent from Buhr in the heated lobby. Or skate at Veterans Memorial Indoor Ice Arena (2150 Jackson Ave.) 11:10 a.m.–1:10 p.m. Sign up for the last session of Learn-to-skate and beginner hockey offered at Veterans while you're there.
