Feb. 22, 2018, Sanitary Sewer Overflow Notice

Archived News Release: February 22, 2018 - ​At approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, the City of Ann Arbor was notified of a possible sanitary sewer overflow near the intersection of Green Road and Fox Hunt Drive via a report on A2 Fix It. City public works crews quickly identified the issue and immediately cleared a blockage in a sanitary sewer line caused by tree roots. 

An estimated 6,000 gallons of sewage discharged over land and into Millers Creek, ultimately flowing to the Huron River. The affected area was covered with lime to neutralize any bacteria. At this time, no immediate recreational facilities are impacted. 

In accordance with regulatory protocols, City of Ann Arbor staff contacted the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to inform them of this unfortunate event.
