2018 Sustainability Forum Series Kicks Off Jan. 11 with Focus on Electric Vehicles

Archived News Release: January 3, 2018 - Join the conversation about sustainability in Ann Arbor! The City of Ann Arbor and the Ann Arbor District Library are hosting the seventh annual Sustainable Ann Arbor series. A think tank of local stakeholders, including community organizations, local government staff, businesses and residents, will join the public each month, January through April, to discuss local sustainability efforts and challenges in our community. The forums offer an opportunity to learn more about sustainability in the community and tips for actions that residents can take to live more sustainably.

The first event of the 2018 series will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Ann Arbor District Library Downtown Branch, 343 S. Fifth Ave. Join a panel of electric vehicle experts as they talk about EVs in Ann Arbor. An "EV Showcase" event sponsored by the Michigan Electric Auto Association will precede the forum just outside the library; come meet local EV owners and check out their vehicles! The event will be 5-7 p.m. on Library Lane. Charles Griffith, director of the Climate and Energy Program at the Ecology Center, will set the stage and share some facts about EVs in Ann Arbor. Bruce Westlake from the Michigan Electric Auto Association will talk about what motivates drivers to go EV. Andrew Renz, principal marketing specialist for DTE, will share about their emerging focus on supporting EV adoption in our region. Alex Keros, manager of Vehicle and Advanced Technology Policy for General Motors, will talk about their innovative car-sharing and ride-hailing efforts both locally and from across the United States. Lastly, Terence Duncan, vice president of design and product management for Mahindra GenZe, will speak about their electric motorbikes and motor scooters.
