Vote for your Favorite Community Project for your Chance to Win Energy-efficient Prizes

Archived News Release: March 3, 2017 - Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation, together with DTE Energy, is excited to announce a contest for *residents from now through May 31 called, Power Together. Participants in this unique initiative have the chance to win energy-efficient prizes! (Residents in the following ZIP Codes are eligible to participate: 48103, 48104, 48105, 48106, 48107, 48108, 48109, 48113, 48130, 48176, 48197, 48198.)

Three community projects in Ann Arbor have been selected to vote on, putting these projects at parks facilities in the running to win $15,000. The projects include:

Solar Panels and Art Education for Under-resourced Youth

Shine on and help the Bryant Community Center install new solar panels to help offset energy costs. Plus, the Community Action Network's Art and Design program will lead a solar-themed art project for local under-resourced youth.

New Pickleball Courts in an Ann Arbor Park

Pickle... what? Pickleball is a game like tennis that's fun for all ages and is becoming increasingly popular. Give residents a place to stay active and have a good time with new pickleball courts. These would be the first dedicated pickleball courts in the City of Ann Arbor park system!

Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation and the GIVE 365 Volunteer and Outreach Program

Love a park! Did you know there are 159 city parks in Ann Arbor? Help provide new woodchip surfacing materials to park playgrounds, as GIVE 365 recruits volunteers to weed and beautify a new park each week.

"We are very excited to be the benefactor of this DTE program. This collaboration and funding will allow the city to greatly enhance the users' experience in our parks and facilities beyond the three in this contest," said Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Deputy Manager Josh Landefeld. "We are thankful for great partners like DTE."

Don't forget to check out the current community project vote tally, and remind your neighbors to participate. The winning project will be announced at the Ann Arbor Green Fair on Friday, June 9.
