City Primary Election is Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015

Polls will be open in Ann Arbor 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4 for the City Primary Election to determine the Democratic candidate nominations for Ann Arbor City Council in wards one, three, four and five. A primary election is not necessary in the second ward.

Archived News Release: July 31, 2015 - For those planning to vote absentee, the Ann Arbor city clerk's office will be open special hours on Saturday, Aug. 1, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for voters to pick up or turn in City Primary Election absentee ballots. The city clerk's office is located on the second floor of Larcom City Hall, 301 E. Huron St. On-street or lot parking is available off of Ann Street, east of Fifth Avenue. In-person requests for absentee ballots will be accepted at the city clerk's office until 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. Voters requesting ballots on Aug. 3 must vote and return the ballot that same day.

As an aside, the regular City Council meeting will take place Thursday, Aug. 6, due to the City Primary Election.

Below are important voter tips and ward and precinct polling-location information: 

  • Don't forget to bring your photo ID to vote. Voters who do not have acceptable photo ID will be required to sign an affidavit in order to vote.

  • Polling place hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. If you are standing in line by 8 p.m. then you are eligible to vote.

  • Precinct Construction Notes:

  1. Precinct Polling Places 1-5 and 1-6: Northside School is under reconstruction, but voters can still park in the main parking lot and enter through the front door. Voting is taking place directly inside the main lobby.

  2. Precinct Polling Place 5-6: Eberwhite School is under construction. Voters will need to access the auditorium using the east entrance off of Park Drive from Mt. Vernon Street. The main entrance at Soule Boulevard is temporarily closed.

  3. Precinct Polling Place 5-9: Duncan Street is under construction, but is open to local traffic, including voters. Signage will be in place to direct voters back to Haisley School.
