Police False Alarms

Per Resolution R-25-174 (May 19, 2025), the following false alarm fees are in effect regarding alarms:

  • July 1, 2025 - $130 per occurrence
  • July 1, 2026 - $160 per occurrence
  • July 1, 2027 - $190 per occurrence

Fing​​​​erprinting

The Ann Arbor Police Department offers 15th District Court ordered fingerprinting ONLY. For all other fingerprinting, contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office

Court ordered fingerprinting takes place on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please check in at the Police Front Desk located on the 2nd floor of the Ann Arbor Justice Center (301 E. Huron Street).

You may also set up an appointment by emailing: aapdfingerprinting@a2gov.org​

Required documents to bring:

  • Order for fingerprints
  • Felony/Misdemeanor complaint
  • Valid form of identification (driver's license, state ID card, student ID, or passport)

Found, lost or case-related property is handled by the property unit. To ​​retrieve property, call 734.794.6952 to verify that your property is ready to be released and to make an appointment for pickup. ​

Recor​​​ds 

The records section is responsible for maintaining, researching and releasing official police records. These activities are done in compliance with city policy, the Freedom on Information Act and the State of Michigan law enforcement records retention schedule. Records also handle​​​​s registering sex offenders.
