Information for Ann Arbor residents ahead of Michigan Stadium concerts July 24 & 25

The University of Michigan is hosting two concerts by Morgan Wallen at Michigan Stadium on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25.

About 75,000 people are expected to attend each concert, bringing significantly increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout Ann Arbor, particularly near the stadium, downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

Unlike a typical football Saturday, which can draw more than 100,000 spectators, including many repeat visitors, many concert attendees will be visiting Ann Arbor for the first time and may be unfamiliar with the streets, parking regulations and traffic patterns.

The city and the university have been coordinating to help ensure the concerts are safe.

Concert timeline and details

Michigan Stadium will host Morgan Wallen with special guests on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25.

Stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m. each day, with concerts beginning at 5:30 p.m. and scheduled to conclude around 11:30 p.m.

Residents should be aware that:

• A soundcheck is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, July 23.
• Theatrical pyrotechnics will be used during the concerts.
• Fireworks are expected near the conclusion of each performance.
• Noise associated with the concerts is expected to end by approximately midnight each night.

Similar to the Zach Bryan concerts held at Michigan Stadium in 2025, the City of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan have worked together to coordinate traffic management, emergency response and public safety operations.

What should you expect?

Expect heavier traffic throughout Ann Arbor

On Friday, residents should expect significantly increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning Friday afternoon. On Saturday, vehicle and pedestrian traffic are expected to pick up early in the day,

Allow extra travel time, avoid unnecessary trips near the stadium and expect delays throughout the city before and after each concert.

Residents should be aware that people may be awaiting ride share services many blocks away from the stadium.

Road closures and ongoing construction

In addition to concert traffic, several downtown construction projects remain active:

• South Main Street between Stadium Boulevard and Scio Church Road is open with a lane closure and traffic shifted for sidewalk construction.
• South First Street at West Washington Street remains closed for sewer improvements.
• South Fourth Avenue between East William and East Liberty remains closed for street and transit improvements.

Parking restrictions

Residential parking restrictions in neighborhoods surrounding Michigan Stadium will be in effect, similar to University of Michigan football game days.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the stadium area parking restrictions map before traveling.

Public safety operations

The City of Ann Arbor will activate its Emergency Operations Center during both concerts, coordinating with the University of Michigan and regional public safety partners throughout the events.

Residents and visitors can also expect an increased public safety presence, including police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and other staff working throughout the stadium area, downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

Cleanup

The University of Michigan has committed to cleaning trash left by people waiting to enter the concerts and within the stadium area.

To help manage increased waste nearby, the city will add additional trash collection capacity at the intersection of Main Street and Stadium Boulevard.

City staff will also be assigned throughout Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings to monitor and empty public trash containers in downtown Ann Arbor. These additional collections are intended to help prevent overflowing trash cans during periods of heavy pedestrian activity and keep public spaces clean.

Safety reminders

Whether you're attending the concerts or simply traveling around Ann Arbor, everyone can help make the weekend safer.

• Be alert for heavy pedestrian traffic, especially near Michigan Stadium and downtown.
• Drive slowly and watch for people crossing streets, particularly after the concerts conclude.
• Follow directions from police officers, traffic control personnel and event staff.
• Use designated crosswalks and obey traffic signals.
• Be patient, allow extra travel time and expect delays.
