Free Drop-Off Station Pass Program Launches for Residents

The City of Ann Arbor is introducing a new way for residents to access the city Drop-Off Station at no cost. As of Aug. 20, 2025, residents can apply online for a pass that covers the entry fee at the Drop-off Station where residents can dispose of items that can’t go in curbside carts — from oversized recyclables to special waste materials. This new method of accessing the Drop-Off Station will waive the gate entry fee, currently $3. Note: Fees will still apply for disposal of large items and some hard-to-recycle materials.
The Drop-Off Station serves as a one-stop location for recycling, compost and disposal of items such as appliances, electronics, building materials and more. The new annual pass program makes it easier for residents to take advantage of these services while promoting responsible waste management.
How it works:
- Visit stream.a2gov.org.
- Click “apply.”
- In the search bar, type “recycle” or “drop off” to find the application.
- Select the application and follow the prompts to create an account and complete the form (proof of Ann Arbor residency is required).
- When your application is approved, you’ll receive a pass by email for free entry to the Drop-Off Station. The pass is only for Ann Arbor residents, not for commercial users.
