The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations, in collaboration with the Marquee Arts, is announcing the return of the Cinema & Sustainability Film Series this month with free tickets for all. The series is dedicated to exploring sustainability, environmental stewardship and the collective actions shaping a green future. The first film in the series will be Dr. Seuss' The Lorax Sunday, Sept. 28, 1:30 p.m., at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty St. in Ann Arbor, and tickets can be reserved online at marquee-arts.org.

The series will run through December featuring one film each month, each with post-screening discussions with local experts and organizations who are working toward making Ann Arbor more sustainable and equitable. Audience members will have opportunities to learn about local initiatives and get involved in sustainability efforts across the community.

“We really enjoyed putting this on last year, so to be able to bring it back this year and make it free for everyone is really exciting,” said Jordan Larson, engagement innovator at the City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations. “We hope it encourages residents, students and visitors, alike, to join us!”

The other films and dates in the series include:

  • Fashion Reimagined — Wednesday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m., Michigan Theater
  • All Too Clear: Beneath the Surface of the Great Lakes — Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7 p.m., State Theater
  • Catching the Sun — Wednesday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m., State Theater

Supporting these goals and sponsoring this series is A2ZERO, the city’s plan, vision, framework and associated actions for Ann Arbor’s just transition to carbon neutrality, community-wide, by the year 2030.
