Free Cinema & Sustainability Series Begins Thursday, November 5, 2026 at the Michigan Theater
Free tickets are back for residents of all ages!
The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations (OSI), in collaboration with Marquee Arts, is sponsoring the return of the free Cinema and Sustainability Film Series, which explores sustainability, environmental stewardship, and the collective actions shaping a green future. The first film in the series, A Place at the Table, will screen Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Michigan Theater, and tickets can be reserved for free online at marquee-arts.org/cinema-and-sustainability. The series will run monthly through March of 2027.
Before the November and December films, attendees can participate in a Climate Café at 6:00 p.m., facilitated by the Office of Sustainability and Innovations and A2ZERO Collaborators from Planet Blue through the University of Michigan. Climate Cafés are a safe space to pause, connect, and share experiences about the environment and climate change. These intimate sustainability conversations are designed for a small group. Therefore, registration for the Climate Cafes is required, and space is limited.
The Cinema & Sustainability series will welcome children and families to matinee films in February and March of 2027 with screenings of the family friendly films Happy Feet and Wall-E, respectively. These popular animated films will entertain and teach moviegoers about climate change, consumption, and deforestation. At each of the Cinema and Sustainability series events, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with OSI staff, who will provide engaging, family-friendly sustainability activities and games!
The full Cinema and Sustainability Film Series includes:
· A Place at the Table: Thursday, November 5, 7.pm., Michigan Theater
· No Impact Man: Thursday, December 3, 7 p.m., Michigan Theater
· Happy Feet: Sunday, February 7, 11 a.m., Michigan Theater
· WALL-E: Sunday, March 28, 11 a.m., Michigan Theater
Supporting these goals and sponsoring this series is A2ZERO, the City’s plan, vision, framework, and associated actions for Ann Arbor’s just and equitable transition to carbon neutrality, community-wide, by the year 2030.
