City to host Strong Towns Crash Analysis Studio public event April 29
The City of Ann Arbor, in partnership with Strong Towns, will host a public Crash Analysis Studio Wednesday, April 29, 2026, 6–8 p.m. at the Downtown Development Authority Office in Kerrytown Market & Shops, second floor, 415 N. Fifth Ave.
The event will bring together Strong Towns, City of Ann Arbor Transportation staff, and the Ann Arbor Police Department to walk through how the city’s Crash Response Team investigates serious injury and fatal traffic crashes — and how those findings inform changes to improve street safety.
Ann Arbor’s Crash Response Team includes a multidisciplinary group that meets regularly to review crashes, coordinate across departments, and implement improvements. The Crash Analysis Studio will focus on making their work more visible and understandable to the public, connecting the steps between a crash, the city’s response and resulting safety improvements.
“Ann Arbor has built a strong, collaborative process for reviewing serious crashes and identifying ways to make our streets safer,” said City of Ann Arbor Transportation Manager Malisa McCreedy. “This event is an opportunity to share that work more openly, so the community can better understand how we learn from crashes and turn that knowledge into action.”
Strong Towns, a national nonprofit organization focused on building financially resilient and safe communities, will facilitate the session as part of its Crash Analysis Studio program. More information about the program is available at https://www.strongtowns.org/crashstudio.
“Ann Arbor already has the internal systems needed to respond to crashes effectively,” said Edward Erfurt, chief technical advisor at Strong Towns. “What makes this work powerful is when the public can see how those systems function: how a crash leads to analysis, and how that analysis leads to change. That visibility helps build trust and shared understanding.”
The event is open to the public and will include opportunities for attendees to ask questions about the city’s crash response processes.
