City of Ann Arbor Update: 2025 Special Election

An update from the Ann Arbor City Clerk's Office notes that Ann Arbor polling places and absentee ballot collections have been closed since 8 p.m., and precincts are continuing to report 2025 Special Election results. Voters in Ann Arbor were asked to decide on two ballot proposals in the 2025 Special Election:
- CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL A: AMENDMENT TO AUTHORIZE THE TRANSFER OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY TO THE ANN ARBOR DISTRICT LIBRARY
- CITY OF ANN ARBOR PROPOSAL B: AMENDMENT TO REPEAL SECTION 1.4 OF THE CITY CHARTER
Due to high turnout of absentee ballots and at the city’s four early voting sites, in person voting on Election Day was relatively modest, as anticipated. Early reports from the precincts suggest a more than 20% voter turnout citywide, including absentee ballots, early votes and Election Day ballots cast.
Ann Arbor City Clerk Jacqueline Beaudry reports the absent voter counting board is continuing to check in and process through all absentee ballots, and city elections operations will continue to work until every ballot is counted. A total of 29 absentee ballots were issued today to newly registered voters and more than 1,800 ballots were returned by voters today at city drop boxes and in the mail. The ballots collected at drop boxes at 8 p.m. are being checked in by city staff and are expected to be delivered to the Counting Board by 9:30 p.m.
