City of Ann Arbor emergency debris removal to begin Monday, April 20
The City of Ann Arbor will conduct emergency debris removal in the areas of the city hardest hit by the April 15 tornado.
As fallen trees were removed from streets, sidewalks, bike lanes and utilities corridors, debris was left behind so crews could focus on opening more public rights-of-way.
Beginning Monday morning, April 20, crews will return to clean up what was left behind or remains in the public rights-of-way.
The city has identified streets (PDF) where crews will drive block by block to remove the debris. These streets are where city crews have been the busiest and the National Weather Service identified the tornado’s path and related damage.
Residents outside of the targeted response area should use A2 Fix It to report debris from city trees, including trees in lawn extensions, as they normally would. A2 Fix It is also available as Apple and Android apps.
Residents who have yard debris from the trees on their property should follow regular compost collection guidelines for curbside removal, take their tree debris to the city’s compost facility at 4170 Platt Road, or hire a contractor to remove the debris.
