Ann Arbor reports smooth Election Day, record voter registration
Ann Arbor polling places closed and absentee ballot collection ended at 8 p.m. for the 2026 general election. Voters in line at 8 p.m. were allowed to cast their ballots, and the final ballot was cast at about 8:30 p.m.
“Voting went smoothly today at all of Ann Arbor’s precincts and Vote Centers thanks to extensive preparation by city staff and the hard work of our dedicated election workers,” said Ann Arbor City Clerk Jacqueline Beaudry. “We also registered more new voters today than on any previous Election Day in Ann Arbor’s history. I want to thank everyone who worked to ensure voters had a positive experience at the polls, including Ann Arbor Public Schools, the University of Michigan, the Ann Arbor District Library and other organizations that allowed their facilities to be used as polling places.”
More than 3,000 voters registered on Election Day. During the 12 days of in-person Early Voting, more than 19,000 ballots were cast. More than 21,000 absentee ballots were received before Election Day.
Final ballot totals will be posted at www.a2gov.org/elections.
