Ann Arbor Recognized on the Global A List for Climate Leadership

The City of Ann Arbor has been named to the 2024 CDP A List, the top status available from the largest global independent environmental disclosure system, recognizing global leadership in environmental transparency, climate action and resilience planning. Only 112 cities worldwide, or 15% of the CDP’s scored cities, earned the top status of an A score. And Ann Arbor is only one of 29 U.S. cities to receive an A!

The CDP’s A List is based on environmental data disclosed by cities to the CDP-ICLEI Track, and earning a spot on the CDP’s A List is a significant achievement that reflects the highest standard of local climate leadership. To be recognized with an A, cities must publicly disclose data and meet rigorous criteria, including a city-wide emissions inventory, a climate risk and vulnerability assessment (CRVA) and a published climate action plan, in addition to many other actions and disclosures.

CDP A List cities are demonstrating that local leadership drives climate innovation, infrastructure investment and economic opportunity. Through A2ZERO, the City of Ann Arbor plan to achieve a just transition to community-wide carbon neutrality by 2030, Ann Arbor is demonstrating what local climate action and leadership looks like.

“It is an honor to once again receive this recognition,” said Dr. Missy Stults, director of sustainability and innovations at the City of Ann Arbor. “We’re proud of the work we do to make Ann Arbor a more equitable and sustainable city for all residents, now and in the future.”

This honor comes on the heels of A2ZERO week, a weeklong celebration of the community’s work to achieve our climate action goals. The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations was founded in 2018 and is guided by the Ann Arbor Carbon Neutrality Plan: A2ZERO. A2ZERO strives toward one unifying vision: Together, creating and implementing a just transition to carbon neutrality, community-wide, by the year 2030. Learn more at www.a2gov.org/sustainability
