Ann Arbor makes civil immigration enforcement ‘no trespassing’ signage available for public download
In accordance with Resolution R-26-042, adopted by the Ann Arbor City Council on Feb. 2, 2026, the City of Ann Arbor is making “No Trespassing” signage specific to civil immigration enforcement available for public use.
Members of the public may download and print the signs for display on private property. The signage reads:
“You DO NOT have consent to enter for civil immigration enforcement purposes. Private Area. No Trespassing.”
The signs are intended for use by private landowners and leaseholders — including businesses, medical providers, nonprofit organizations and places of worship — wishing to delineate non-public areas of property that they seek to put off-limits from civil immigration enforcement.
“The Ann Arbor community rejects the Trump administration’s program of fear and chaos,” Mayor Christopher Taylor said. “Ann Arbor is committed to provide clear, accessible tools to help residents and property owners understand and assert their rights. By making this signage available, we are supporting community members who choose to restrict access to non-public spaces on their property.”
The relevant portion of Resolution R-26-042 states:
“RESOLVED, That the City Administrator shall as soon as possible, but no later than 90 days, design and make available for public use standardized signage that private landowners and leaseholders, including businesses, medical providers, nonprofit organizations, and places of worship, may print and display in their own discretion to delineate non-public areas of property in which the landowner or leaseholder wishes to restrict activities related to civil immigration enforcement.”
Eight versions of the sign are available. All versions are designed to be printable on typical home or office printers and copy machines.
The sign text is being translated into additional languages. Those versions will be added to the download page on a2gov.org when they are complete.
