Ann Arbor Hosting Feb. 12 Meeting for South Barton Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project

The south pedestrian bridge along the Border to Border Trail in Barton Nature Area has reached the end of its useful life, and planning is underway for its replacement. Community members are invited to an informational online meeting to learn more: Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m., online (only) via *Zoom.

The meeting presentation will explain reasons for the bridge replacement, the anticipated project process and funding considerations and will share early, draft concepts for the new structure. Attendees will also have opportunities to ask questions and provide comments.

“Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation is working on another Border to Border Trail improvement that users will appreciate,” said Hillary Hanzel, city landscape architect capital project manager. “We look forward to sharing south Barton pedestrian bridge replacement project details with the community Feb. 12.” The city and Washtenaw County recently partnered to install a pedestrian tunnel near the bridge site, adding a crucial connection in the Border to Border Trail between Bandemer Park and Barton Nature Area.

*As the meeting time nears, the link to join will be posted on the South Barton Bridge Replacement project page.
