Ann Arbor Fire and Police departments to hold Sept. 11 memorial service

The Ann Arbor Fire Department and Ann Arbor Police Department will host a memorial service Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and remember all who lost their lives that day.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. in front of Fire Station No. 1, 111 N. Fifth Ave., and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.

The memorial service will honor all who died in the attacks, including the 343 New York City firefighters and 60 officers from the New York City Police Department and Port Authority Police Department who were killed in the line of duty.

Remarks will be given by Fire Chief Mike Kennedy, Police Chief Andre C. Anderson, City Administrator Milton Dohoney Jr., Mayor Christopher Taylor and U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell. 

The event will be livestreamed on the City of Ann Arbor Facebook page.
