City of Ann Arbor Update: 2022 General Election

Archived News Release: November 8, 2022 - An update from the Ann Arbor City Clerk's Office notes that Ann Arbor polling places are continuing to report 2022 General Election results. Due to high turnout at the city's Election Day voter registration offices, and the volume of absentee ballots issued to new voters registering on Election Day, absentee ballot results will be delayed, as anticipated. In addition, same-day voter registration processing is expected to continue for several hours, even though polls closed at 8 p.m., and will also delay reporting from the city's absentee ballot count boards.

The city clerk's office issued 32,842 absentee ballots, with over 85% returned, including the approximately 3,000 absentee ballots that were returned today, Nov. 8, by 8 p.m. Absentee ballots from the satellite offices continue to be checked in. The office continues to work to check in these ballots before getting them to the absent voter counting board (AVCB) for tabulation. Nearly 75% of absentee ballots already at the AVCB have been scanned and counted.

The city clerk's office issued over 1,200 ballots today to newly registered voters, both at Larcom City Hall and at the University of Michigan satellite registration offices, where voters in line by 8 p.m. were eligible to register and to vote on Election Day. The AVCB will not be able to report results until all of these ballots have been checked in and they receive the ballots for processing.

Information on elections can be found on the city's website, www.a2gov.org/elections.
