Archived News Release: June 27, 2022 - ​City Administrator Milton Dohoney Jr. is inviting downtown Ann Arbor stakeholders to share their ideas about city improvements. Since arriving in Ann Arbor in 2021, Dohoney has expressed a desire to upgrade the downtown experience for residents and commuters, and to make the city a travel destination. Dohoney stated, “It is clearly in our strategic best interest to maximize the allure of our community's living room. Determining a realistic set of enhancements should be a fun exercise for the public and the community to undertake."

Dohoney has regularly heard from community members about the need for improvements to Ann Arbor city streets. Now that the road bonds have been authorized to fund and address much-needed repairs, he would also like to make other improvements to the downtown experience — and to partner with the community in the process. Dohoney has heard the need for public restrooms, graffiti removal, clean-up days, bulk waste collection and street cleaning, and expects other ideas to emerge from this process, including those with citywide implications rather than being limited to downtown.

Businesses, residents and commuters are all welcome to weigh in during the sessions.

Outcomes from this initiative will be shared in a report and recommendations as the city prepares the next fiscal year's budget proposal.
