Applications Accepted Through Dec. 6 for Ready Ann Arbor Preparedness Training

Archived News Release: November 1, 2019 - ​The Ann Arbor Police and Fire departments have scheduled the next Ready Ann Arbor Community Preparedness Training for early 2020; and applications to attend are now being accepted, using the link below. This two-day program will take place Saturdays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, 2020, 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Participants selected into the program will be required to attend both days of training.

Modeled after the Department of Homeland Security's Ready campaign, Ready Ann Arbor will aim to educate and empower the public to prepare for, respond to and mitigate emergencies, including natural and manmade disasters, while promoting preparedness through public involvement. The topics covered during Ready Ann Arbor training will include crime prevention, hands-only CPR, personal safety, basic first aid, active shooter response training, home fire safety, an overview of resources in the community and how to use a fire extinguisher.

Ann Arbor residents, ages 18 years and older, interested in applying to attend the Ready Ann Arbor training can find the application on the police department website, on the “Community Engagement – Programs" page, at the following link:  www.a2gov.org/departments/police/community-engagement/Pages/Programs.aspx.  The deadline to apply to participate is Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. The class is limited to 25 people.
