City Schedule, Parks & Rec Offers, for Veterans Day Nov. 10-11

Archived News Release: October 31, 2017 - ​Ann Arbor municipal offices, including the customer service center at Larcom City Hall and the 15th Judicial District Court, will be closed for the observation of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017; however the city's normal trash, compost and recycling curbside service will be provided without interruption on the holiday Friday. Safety services and utility operations will maintain 24-hour schedules throughout.

Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation will provide special offerings to military veterans (PDF) at four facilities on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11.

  • Mack Indoor Pool will offer free swimming to military veterans during open swim times: 1–5 p.m. The pool is located at 715 Brooks St., inside Ann Arbor Open School; www.a2gov.org/mack

  • Veterans Memorial Park Indoor Ice Arena (2150 Jackson Ave., www.a2gov.org/vets) and Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena (2751 Packard Road, www.a2gov.org/buhr) will offer free ice skating. Vets Park open skate times are 1–2:30 p.m.; and open skating at Buhr is 2:30–4:30 p.m. and 7:15–8:45 p.m.

  • Huron Hills Golf Course (3465 E. Huron River Drive, www.a2gov.org/golf) will offer a free round of golf (nine or 18 holes) to all veterans on Saturday, Nov. 11. (Power cart, if needed, is $5.)

The public will also be able to honor veterans for their service while visiting these four city recreation facilities. Guests can pick up a thank you card to share words of appreciation. All cards will be proudly displayed in the facilities.
