Liberty Stormwater Management Restoration Project

 

The project is located north of W. Liberty Street, west of Virginia Park, on a branch of Allen Creek, to reestablish stormwater best management practices to improve stormwater quality.

Timeline

Preliminary design is currently underway. 

  • Public meeting: January, 2025 

  • Complete design/permitting: Summer, 2025

  • Project construction: October - December, 2025

Why is this project being done?

This is a Capital Improvements Plan project to accomplish the following:

  • Maintenance of the existing creek bed, removing sediment and other natural debris.

  • Streambank stabilization, restoring stream width and installing erosion preventative features.

  • Stormwater quality improvements utilizing energy dissipation facilities.

The treatment will apply to two open channels within the common areas of the Fair Glen and Liberty Knolls subdivisions.

Cost and funding source

The total project cost, for approval in the Stormwater capital budget, is $1,895,000, of which a portion will be funded by a Washtenaw County Grant.
