Street Sweep Map
The City of Ann Arbor sweeps residential streets at least twice per year, during the spring and summer and then again in fall. Street sweeping is highly weather dependent and because of this no set schedule is available. However, the city has a street sweeping map that provides information on where we plan to sweep next and where we've already been. Major roads (Main St, Washtenaw, Plymouth, etc.) are swept monthly, year round and weather permitting, and not represented on the map. 
During the fall, our goal is to sweep residential streets after the majority of leaves have fallen and before temperatures drop below freezing. Each sweeping cycle takes approximately six weeks to complete and the schedule is dependent on daily progress which can be affected by parked cars, weather conditions, equipment availability and other priorities.
Street sweeping is meant to remove leaves and other debris, however, streets will still accumulate leaves and other material blown from yards between sweeping cycles, which makes it's way into storm drains. Unfortunately, the city does not have the resources to remove debris from all 23,000 storm drains, especially after storm or wind events. To help reduce localized flooding and water in roadways, the city, in cooperation with the Huron River Watershed Council, relies on the assistance of property owners through our Adopt-a-Storm Drain program.
Please note that sweeping leaves from private property into the street is illegal.
