Argo Canoe Livery and Gallup Canoe Livery ​are two locations on the Huron River each offering different river trips, boats and programs.

River Camp and Program Registration

We offer many fun river events and programs such as river day camps, night paddles, kayak instruction and SUP classes. Camp and program registration begins Feb. 5, 2018. Register online or if have questions call Gallup Park 734.794.6240.

Gallup River Camp: Completed 1st-5th Grades

Explore the Huron River with boats and fishing for a week filled with learning, adventure, and fun!  Experience perfect summer days as we kayak, canoe, paddleboat, fish, cookout, art, and play in wonderful Gallup Park.  The two camps have similar river curriculum with the River Explorers paddling boats every day and rafting down the cascades and River Adventures paddling a bit further every day and kayaking down the cascades. All ages explore Island Park and swim at the pool on Wednesdays.

Camp Fees:  resident, $225; nonresident, $275

Camp Hours: Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Extended Camp: 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 4:30-6 p.m.; $50

Gallup River Camp Explore - Completed 1st-5th Grades:  

June 18-22, July 2-6 (4 days), July 16-20, Jul 30-Aug 3, Aug 13-17, Aug 27-31

Gallup River Camp Adventure – Completed 3rd-5th Grades:

Argo River Camp: Completed 6th-8th Grades

Friends and fun on the coolest river around! Join us as we journey out each day paddling our boats down different sections of the beautiful Huron River. Our many explorations include kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, tubing, rafting, fishing, geocaching, disc golf and a bonfire lunch. Argo River Camp is based out of a cabin and pavilion at the Argo Livery.

Camp Fees: resident $225; nonresident $275

River Trips

Argo to Gallup River Trip - 3.7 miles, 1.5 hours

The Argo to Gallup River Trip starts with kayaking or rafting the Argo Cascades, or bypass and start below the rapids, and ends with a relaxing paddle down the picturesque Huron River. Enjoy an outdoor experience right in the city of Ann Arbor. We provide the van transportation up river.

Argo Livery Schedule 2018

  • April 14 to April 27

    • Every day:  on the hour 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the Gallup Livery. Begin your trip with a van ride upriver and we can drop you off either above or below the cascades.

  • April 28 to May 25

    • Weekdays: on the hour 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the Gallup Livery. Vans leave at the top of the hour to drive you and your boat upriver.

    • Weekends: anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. from the Argo Livery. We will give you a van ride from Gallup back to Argo at the end of your river trip.

  • May 26 to September 3

    • Every day: anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. from the Argo Livery. We will give you a van ride from Gallup back to Argo at the end of your river trip.

  • $27/canoe
  • $27/2-person kayak
  • $21/1-person kayak
  • $72/5-person raft

Barton to Gallup River Trip - 5.7 miles, 2.5 hours

The Barton to Gallup River Trip starts at the Gallup Livery with a van ride upriver to Barton Park. A longer river trip with a 2-mile paddle through Argo Pond,  paddling down the Argo Cascades, and a relaxing paddle down the river current back to Gallup Park.  

Barton to Gallup Schedule 

  • April 28 to May 25
    • Weekends: on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a van leaves Gallup top of every hour to drive you up to Barton.

  • May 26 to September 3

    • Weekends: every 1/2 hour 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. a van leaves Gallup to drive you up to Barton.

    • Weekdays: on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a van leaves Gallup top of every hour to drive you up to Barton.

Barton to Gallup Boats

  • $32/2-person kayak
  • $26/1-person kayak
  • Canoes and rafts are not available for this trip

Stillwater Paddles

Gallup Canoe Livery

Paddle a boat on 2.5 mile Gallup Pond where there is little or no current. Great for beginners and families, no van ride needed, just jump in a boat and off you go.  Last boat rented is 5 p.m. which is 2 hours prior to closing.

Rent a Tube - Opens April 28, 2018

Float down the Argo Cascades, walk back to the top and repeat the fun! One-person per tube, ages 8 years and above. Shoes required (no flip flops). Tubes are just for use in the cascades and do not go down the river to Gallup Park. No van transportation provided for tubes. 

Tube Rental Fee:  $10/tube, 2-hours, Argo Cascades, last tube rental is 5 p.m. for the Argo Livery closes at 7 p.m., weekends only in spring.
