The purpose of the training division is to ensure the proficiency and competency of each member of our fire department. Instruction consists of continuous on-site, shift level training including classroom education classes, hands-on training and certified courses. The training division provides firefighters with continuous preparation in EMS, firefighting, Haz-Mat and special operations. This division consists of a training officer and an assistant training officer.

The training division is responsible for ensuring that every department member stays current with the state-mandated training as well as any of the unique training requirements resulting from equipment or specific rescue scenarios. Training usually occurs Monday through Saturday 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. Occasionally, training is conducted at night and can extend up to 11 p.m. Each class is taught a minimum of six times in order to accommodate all personnel on all three shifts.
